Glass + Garnish

Method

Glass + Garnish

1

Prepare glass and garnish

Chill a highball or tall glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes if possible, or fill it with ice water while you prepare other items. If using, rinse and pat dry one lime, then cut a fresh wedge about 1/8–1/4 of the lime for garnish.

2

If you prefer a very cold drink, fill the glass with fresh ice cubes. For slightly less dilution, add fewer cubes; for maximum chill and slight dilution, fill the glass completely.

Drink

3

Pour the Coca-Cola

Hold the chilled 12 fl oz bottle of Coca-Cola at a slight angle and gently pour into the prepared glass over the ice. Pour slowly down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming. Stop when you reach about 1/2 inch (1 cm) from the rim to allow head and avoid overflow.

4

Finish and serve

Express the lime (optional): gently squeeze the lime wedge over the drink to release a few drops of juice, rub the rim with the wedge for aroma, then drop the wedge into the glass or set it on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring stick if desired. Enjoy cold.
