Whole Milk (single serving)

Flavored Milk (chocolate)

Method

Whole Milk (single serving)

1

Pour 1 cup of cold whole milk into a clean glass.

2

If desired, stir in 1 teaspoon of sweetener and a pinch (1/4 tsp) of salt until dissolved. Serve cold.

Warm Milk (comforting/toddler)

3

Stovetop method

Pour 1 cup of milk into a small saucepan. Heat over low–medium heat, stirring occasionally, until steam appears and the milk is hot to the touch but not boiling (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat, stir in 1/8 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon honey if using. Let cool slightly before serving.

4

Microwave method

Place 1 cup milk in a microwave-safe mug. Heat on medium power for 50–70 seconds, pausing at 30–second mark to stir. Add vanilla and honey if using, stir, and ensure temperature is safe before giving to a child.

Flavored Milk (chocolate)

5

In a small bowl or cup, mix 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1.5 teaspoons sugar and a pinch (1/8 tsp) of salt with 1 tablespoon hot water. Stir into a smooth paste to dissolve the cocoa.

6

Heat 1 cup of milk using the stovetop (low–medium until steaming, 3–5 minutes) or microwave (50–70 seconds on medium power).

7

Pour the hot milk into the cocoa paste, whisk or stir vigorously until fully combined and slightly frothy. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed. Serve warm, or chill with ice for cold chocolate milk.
