Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Hibiscus Flowers

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Stir to combine.

  3. 3

    Steep

Cover the saucepan and let the hibiscus flowers steep for about 15-20 minutes, depending on how strong you want the tea.

  4. 4

    Strain Tea

After steeping, strain the tea into a large pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers. Discard the flowers.

Flavoring the Tea

  1. 5

    Add Mint and Sweetener

While the tea is still warm, add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of honey or sugar. Stir until the sweetener is dissolved.

  2. 6

    Cool Down

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.

Serving the Tea

  1. 7

    Prepare Glasses

In serving glasses, add ice cubes to each glass.

  2. 8

    Pour Tea

Pour the chilled hibiscus tea over the ice cubes in each glass.

  3. 9

    Garnish

Garnish with lemon slices and additional mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately.
