Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Batter Mixing

  1. 2

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 3

    Add Buttermilk

Gradually add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  3. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally.

  4. 7

    Drain the Pickles

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve with Ranch

Serve the crispy fried pickles warm with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
