Method
Burrito Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients needed for the burritos. Drain and rinse the beans if using canned beans. Shred the cooked chicken if it's not already shredded.
- 2
Cook the Rice
If you haven't cooked the rice yet, do so according to package instructions. Set aside to cool slightly.
- 3
Warm the Tortillas
In a skillet over medium heat, warm each tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side or until pliable. This will make them easier to roll.
- 4
Assemble the Burrito
On each warmed tortilla, start by layering about 1/2 cup of cooked rice, followed by 1/4 cup of black or pinto beans, 1/4 cup of shredded chicken, and 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- 5
Add Toppings
Top off the fillings with a few tablespoons of sour cream, a handful of shredded lettuce, a few tablespoons of diced tomato, and a spoonful of salsa.
- 6
Season the Filling
Sprinkle salt and pepper over the filling to taste.
- 7
Roll the Burrito
Starting from one end, carefully fold the sides of the tortilla inwards and then roll it tightly from the bottom to the top to secure the filling inside.
- 8
Serve
Place the rolled burrito seam-side down on a plate. Serve with additional salsa or sour cream on the side if desired.
