Ingredients for Bud Light
Method
Directions for Brewing Bud Light
- 1
Prepare the Water
Begin by heating 90 cups of water in a large brew kettle over medium heat until it reaches approximately 160°F (71°C).
- 2
Mash the Grains
Add 8 cups of barley malt and 2 cups of rice to the heated water. Stir well to combine and maintain the temperature at around 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes. This process converts the starches in the grains into sugars.
- 3
Sparging
After the mash is complete, slowly drain the liquid (wort) from the mash tun. Rinse the grains with an additional 10 cups of hot water to extract more sugars, collecting the wort in the brew kettle.
- 4
Boil the Wort
Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add 0.5 cups of hops and boil for 60 minutes. This will impart bitterness and flavor to the beer.
- 5
Cooling the Wort
After the boiling process, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until the temperature drops to around 70°F (21°C).
- 6
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Add 1 tablespoon of yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow the beer to ferment for about 1-2 weeks at room temperature.

Once carbonation is complete, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Serve cold and enjoy your homemade Bud Light!
