Method
Prepare Fruit
- 1
Prepare papaya
Choose a ripe papaya (skin yielding slightly to pressure). Peel it with a knife or vegetable peeler, cut in half lengthwise, scoop out the seeds with a spoon, then chop the flesh into roughly 1-inch cubes until you have about 2 cups.
- 2
Prepare banana
Peel and slice the banana into 1/2-inch pieces. If you prefer a colder, thicker smoothie, use a frozen banana or place the slices in the freezer for 30–60 minutes beforehand.
Blend Smoothie
- 3
Add the chopped papaya, banana slices, and 1 cup plain yogurt to the blender pitcher.
- 4
- 5
Add 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste), 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice to brighten the flavor, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract if using.
- 6
Add 1 cup ice cubes for a chilled, frothy texture. If using frozen banana or frozen papaya, reduce ice to 1/2 cup or omit entirely.
- 7
Secure the blender lid and blend on high for 45–90 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds.
- 8
Taste and adjust: add more sweetener (1/2 tsp increments) if needed, or an extra splash of milk if too thick, then pulse to combine.
Serve & Garnish
- 9
Pour the smoothie into two chilled glasses, dividing evenly.
- 10
Garnish each glass with a papaya slice or a lime wedge on the rim and 2 mint leaves if desired.
- 11
Serve immediately with a straw. Optional: sprinkle a few small papaya cubes on top for texture.
