Method
Martini
- 1
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.
- 2
Prepare cucumber juice (if not pre-made)
Peel (optional) and roughly chop 1 small English cucumber. Place in a blender and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a container, pressing to extract as much juice as possible. Measure 1 oz for the cocktail and reserve the rest for another use. (Yield ~2–3 oz per small cucumber.)
- 3
Mix
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 oz Seedlip Garden 108, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz fresh cucumber juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Strain
Discard the ice water from the chilled glass if used. Double-strain the contents of the shaker through a fine mesh strainer into the chilled martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards and any cucumber solids. Aim for a clear, silky pour.
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Thread a thin cucumber ribbon or a small cucumber wheel onto a cocktail pick and rest it across the rim of the glass, or lay the ribbon inside the glass against the side for visual effect.
- 6
Express a lemon twist over the surface by holding the twist over the cocktail and giving it a quick wrist snap to release oils, then drop or rest the twist on the rim.
- 7
Serve immediately while cold.
