The Virgins — Cocktail
Method
The Virgins — Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays crisp and cold.
- 2
Prepare cucumber juice
If you don't have bottled cucumber juice: peel (optional) and roughly chop half a medium cucumber. Press the chopped cucumber through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl, pressing with the back of a spoon to extract about 1 oz (30 ml) of juice. Discard solids. If you prefer a smoother texture, strain twice.
- 3
Mix cocktail
In a cocktail shaker, add 6 ice cubes, 2 oz Seedlip Garden 108, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz fresh cucumber juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Secure the lid.
- 4
Shake
Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and lightly dilutes the drink for balance.
- 5
- 6
Double strain and serve
Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just the fine mesh if you don't have both), double strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards and any cucumber solids.
- 7
- 8
Serve
Present immediately while cold. The cocktail yields bright cucumber and lemon notes balanced by the herbaceous, savory character of Seedlip Garden 108 and a touch of sweetness from the simple syrup.
