Cocktail
Prepare espresso
Pull a fresh shot of espresso (about 0.5 oz) or prepare very strong hot espresso. Allow it to cool for 20–30 seconds — it should still be warm but not boiling so it can help create a crema when shaken.
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the Ketel One vodka (1.5 oz), Mr Black coffee liqueur (1.0 oz), aquavit (0.5 oz), cold brew (0.75 oz), simple syrup (0.25 oz), and the warm espresso (0.5 oz).
Dry shake (optional, for foam)
If you want extra foamy crema, add a large handful of ice to the shaker and perform a vigorous dry shake for 10 seconds without the ice? (Note: dry shaking typically means without ice; for coffee cocktails, a brief initial shake without ice can help emulsify — alternatively skip this step and go to step below).
Shake with ice
Add enough ice to the shaker so the shaker is about two-thirds full (approximately 1 cup). Shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and very cold. This chills the cocktail and creates a silky foam.
Garnish & serve
Garnish with three coffee beans placed on the surface of the crema. Serve immediately.
