Method

Cocktail Base

1

Build and Shake

Add tequila blanco (2 oz), fresh orange juice (3 oz), fresh lime juice (0.5 oz), Aperol (0.5 oz) and simple syrup (0.25 oz) into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Seal and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold.

2

Prepare a highball or Collins glass by filling it with fresh cubed ice (about 1 cup).

3

Strain the shaken mixture over the ice in the prepared glass using a fine strainer or the shaker's strainer to remove small ice chips.

4

Add Sunset Effect

Slowly pour the grenadine (0.5 oz) down the inside of the glass so it sinks to the bottom and then lightly rises in a gradient — this creates the 'sunset' visual. Do not stir; let the grenadine settle for 10–15 seconds.

Garnish & Serve

5

Garnish the drink with an orange wheel on the rim and drop a maraschino cherry into the glass to rest near the bottom, enhancing the sunset look.

6

Serve with a short cocktail straw. Suggest sipping without stirring to enjoy the layered appearance; if desired, advise the guest to give the drink a gentle stir before drinking to blend flavors.
