Method
Infusion
- 1
Warm and infuse
Combine whole milk, half-and-half, and dried lavender buds in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Warm slowly until steam rises and small bubbles form around the edges (do not boil), about 6–8 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent skin formation and scorching.

- 3
Strain
Strain the infused milk through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean saucepan or heatproof bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as practical. Discard solids.
Flavor & Sweeten
- 4
Reheat gently
Return the strained milk mixture to low heat until warm again, about 2–3 minutes. Avoid boiling.
- 5
Add sweetener and aromatics
Whisk in honey, vanilla extract, orange zest, ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of sea salt until the honey is fully dissolved and the mixture is uniform, about 1 minute. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice — add up to 1 additional teaspoon honey if you prefer sweeter.
Finish & Serve
- 6
Froth (optional)
If you like a frothy top, froth the warm milk with a hand frother or by vigorously whisking for 20–30 seconds until light foam forms.
- 7
Pour and garnish
Pour the Horizon Milk into two warmed mugs (about 1 cup each). Garnish each with a light dusting of ground cinnamon and an orange twist or a small lavender sprig if using.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately while warm. Store any leftover milk in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours; gently rewarm before serving and whisk to recombine.
