Cocktail
Optional Salt or Sugar Rim
Method
Prep (optional)
- 1
Rim the glass (optional)
If you want a salted or sugared rim, run the lime wedge around the outer rim of a rocks or highball glass. Dip the rim into a shallow plate with the coarse salt or superfine sugar until evenly coated. Set the glass aside.
Mixing the Cocktail
- 2
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with cubed ice (about 1 cup).
- 3
Add 2 oz vodka to the shaker.
- 4
Pour in 4 oz fresh orange juice. Use freshly squeezed OJ for the best flavor and texture.
- 5
Add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to brighten the drink and 0.25 oz simple syrup to round out acidity. If you prefer a drier drink, omit the simple syrup.
- 6
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.
- 7
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice if desired.
- 8
- 9
Garnish with an orange wheel and, if using, a lime twist. Serve immediately.
