Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a highball or pint glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to ensure the cocktail stays cold.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass

If you used ice water to chill, discard water and add 4 ice cubes to the glass. If you chilled in the freezer, add the ice now.

  3. 3

Add orange juice and optional sweetener/bitters

Pour 4 oz fresh orange juice into the glass. If you like a slightly sweeter beermosa, add 1/2 tablespoon simple syrup. If using bitters for complexity, add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and stir gently to combine the juice and any sweetener.

  4. 4

    Top with beer

Slowly tilt the glass at a slight angle and gently pour 12 oz of chilled Memphis seasonal beer down the side so it layers and preserves carbonation. Pouring slowly minimizes foaming.

  5. 5

    Finish and serve

Give the drink one very gentle stir (1–2 rotations) to integrate beer and orange juice without flattening the beer. Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim. Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
