Cocktail Base

Method

Prepare & Mix

1

Fill shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with cubed ice (about 1 cup). This chills the spirits quickly and dilutes slightly for balance.

2

Add spirits and sour

Pour 1 oz vodka, 1 oz gin, 1 oz light rum, 1 oz triple sec, and 1.5 oz fresh lemon juice or commercial sour mix into the shaker over the ice.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 8–10 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold. This mixes and chills the ingredients and slightly aerates the sour component.

Assemble & Serve

4

Strain over glass

Fill a highball or collins glass with fresh ice (top up if needed). Strain the shaken mixture into the glass, leaving room for the cola (about 3 oz).

5

Top with cola

Slowly pour 3 oz Coca-Cola down the side of the glass to top the drink. Stir gently once with a bar spoon (one or two slow turns) to combine without flattening the soda.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lemon wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve with a straw if desired and advise the drinker to sip to enjoy the layered flavors.
