Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Preheat a 10–12 oz heatproof glass or mug by rinsing it with hot water, then discard the water. This keeps the drink warm longer.

2

Combine spirits

Into the warmed glass, add 1.5 oz Kahlúa, 0.5 oz Cointreau, and 1 oz dark rum.

3

Add coffee and sugar

Pour 6 oz of freshly brewed hot coffee into the glass (leave a little headspace for cream). If you prefer it sweeter, stir in 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar until dissolved.

4

Stir

Gently stir the mixture for about 10–15 seconds to integrate the liqueurs and coffee evenly.

Garnish & Finish

5

Top with cream

Lightly whip 2 tablespoons heavy cream until it thickens slightly but is still pourable (soft peaks not necessary). Spoon or carefully pour the slightly whipped cream over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the hot coffee mixture. Alternatively, dispense about 2 tablespoons of pre-whipped cream or aerosol whipped cream for a quick finish.

6

Garnish

Grate a pinch of fresh nutmeg directly over the cream. If using, express an orange twist over the drink to release oils, then drop it in or rest it on the rim.

7

Serve immediately while hot. Instruct guests to sip through the cream to experience the contrast of hot spiced coffee and cool whipped cream.
