Fried Chicken Ingredients
Fried Chicken Preparation
1. Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
2. Prepare the Coating
In a shallow dish, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
3. Heat the Oil
In a large deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
4. Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade, letting excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, shaking off excess flour.
5. Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry in batches, cooking for about 10-15 minutes per side or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
6. Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve the fried chicken with pickle chips, sliced tomato, lettuce leaves, and mayonnaise.
