Method

Prepare Burger Patties

1

Mix the Ground Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands to avoid overworking the meat.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 1 inch thick.

Cook the Patties

3

Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place 2 slices of American cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

5

Prepare Onion Rings

If using frozen onion rings, cook them according to package instructions until they are crispy. If making from scratch, slice onions, dip in batter, and fry until golden.

6

Prepare Pickles

Slice pickles if they are whole and set aside.

Assemble the Burger

7

Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

8

Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, spread 1 tablespoon of ketchup and ½ tablespoon of mustard. Place one cheeseburger patty on each bun, then top with pickles and onion rings. Place the top half of the bun to finish.
