Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
Chill the glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink. This keeps the cocktail cold without over-diluting.
Combine spirits and vermouth
Add the gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc to a cocktail shaker.
Add ice
Fill the shaker with 4–6 large ice cubes (enough to chill and slightly dilute).
Shake vigorously
Shake the mixture hard for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold. The Vesper is traditionally shaken to give it a bright, slightly more aerated texture.
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer (and a fine mesh strainer if available) to remove shards of ice.
Serve
Serve immediately while very cold. Sip and enjoy.
