Main cocktail

Method

Prepare fruit

1

Muddle strawberries

Place the hulled and quartered strawberries into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Gently muddle 2–3 times until they release some juice but still have small pieces (aim for a chunky mash, not a puree). This adds fresh strawberry flavor and a slight texture to the drink.

Build the cocktail

2

Add the cognac, melon liqueur, pineapple juice and fresh lime juice into the shaker with the muddled strawberries.

3

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and secure the lid. Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well-chilled (shaker should feel cold and slightly frosty).

4

Using a fine strainer over a rocks glass or large coupe filled with fresh ice, double-strain the shaken mixture to remove strawberry seeds and pulp. If you prefer more fruit texture, single-strain only.

5

Slowly pour the Blue Curaçao down the inside of the glass (or float it over the back of a spoon) so it sinks and creates a layered swirled 'swampy' blue-green effect with the green from the melon liqueur and yellow from pineapple.

Garnish & serve

6

Garnish with the pineapple wedge and a lime wheel on the rim. Optionally, skewer a quartered strawberry and rest it on the glass for an extra fruity look.

7

Serve immediately with a short stirring straw so the guest can gently swirl to blend the colors and flavors before sipping.
