Method

Preparation

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail (about 5 minutes).

2

Add ice to a cocktail shaker until roughly 2/3 full (about 1 cup).

3

Pour 1 oz green crème de menthe into the shaker.

4

Add 1 oz white crème de cacao to the shaker.

5

Measure and add 1 oz heavy cream (or half-and-half) to the shaker. For a lighter texture use half-and-half; for richer, use heavy cream.

6

Secure the shaker top and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and the mixture is well emulsified and slightly frothy.

7

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass and strain the cocktail through a fine strainer (or the shaker strainer) into the chilled glass.

8

Garnish with a mint sprig and a light dusting of grated chocolate or cocoa powder, if desired.

Serving

9

Serve immediately. This is a single-serving dessert cocktail best enjoyed cold and fresh.

10

If making multiple servings, multiply the core ingredients by the number of servings and shake in batches to maintain chill and froth.
