Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 6 ice cubes, 2 oz citron vodka, 0.75 oz triple sec, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 1 oz cranberry juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter Cosmopolitan, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior is frosty. This properly dilutes and chills the cocktail.

4

Strain

Empty the ice or water from the chilled glass if used. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and, if available, a fine mesh strainer to catch small ice shards and pulp.

5

Garnish and serve

Express the oils of a lime twist over the surface by twisting it above the glass, then rub the rim with the twist and drop it into the drink, or float a thin lime wheel on the surface. Serve immediately.
