Optional (for shaking)

Method

Prepare the Glass

1

Chill and salt the rim

If desired, chill a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Cut a lime wedge and rub it around the rim of the chilled glass. Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate, then press and twist the damp rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix the Cocktail

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 1 cup ice (for shaker), 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the exterior of the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted. Shaking both chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.

4

Strain

Double-strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or strain neat into the chilled glass if you prefer it up. Use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available to catch ice shards and pulp.

Garnish & Serve

5

Garnish the finished margarita with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
