Garlic Butter

Method

Garlic Butter

  1. 1

    Prepare butter mixture

In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and grated Parmesan (if using). Add a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth and evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Bread & Baking

  1. 2

    Preheat oven

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Position a rack in the middle of the oven.

  2. 3

    Prepare loaf

Cut the half-loaf crosswise into 2 equal pieces (or slice lengthwise into 2 pieces if you prefer open-faced garlic bread). If you like a crisper exterior, lightly brush the cut surfaces with the optional olive oil.

  3. 4

    Spread garlic butter

Evenly spread the prepared garlic butter over the cut sides of both pieces. Make sure to cover all edges for consistent flavor.

  4. 5

    Bake

Place the prepared pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil, buttered-side up. Bake in the preheated oven for 8–12 minutes, until the butter is melted and the edges are golden. For a more toasted top, switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes—watch closely to prevent burning.

  5. 6

    Finish and serve

Remove from oven and let rest for 1 minute. If desired, sprinkle a little extra chopped parsley or a light dusting of Parmesan. Slice into serving portions if cut lengthwise and serve warm. Makes 2 pieces.
