Tater Tots

Method

Tater Tots

  1. 1

    Preheat

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Coat

Place the frozen tater tots in a large bowl. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt. Toss gently until evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Arrange

Spread the tater tots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each so they crisp evenly.

  4. 4

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, flip the tots with a spatula and continue baking for another 8–12 minutes, until golden brown and crisp. Total bake time will be about 28–32 minutes depending on your oven and tot size.

Cajun Spice Blend

  1. 5

    Mix spices

While the tots bake, combine 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, and 1 teaspoon black pepper in a small bowl. Stir thoroughly to make an even blend.

  2. 6

    Apply spice

When tots are out of the oven and still hot on the baking sheet, sprinkle the Cajun spice blend evenly over them. Use a spatula or toss gently on the baking sheet so the spices adhere to the hot oil on the tots. If desired, return to the oven for 2–3 minutes to toast the spices lightly and set the flavor.

Finishing & Serving

  1. 7

Remove the spiced tots to a serving platter. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley over the top for color and freshness. Serve immediately with creamy dipping sauce (about 1 cup) and lemon wedges on the side for squeezing if desired.

  2. 8

Storage suggestion: Leftover spiced tots can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Re-crisp in a 400°F (200°C) oven for 8–10 minutes before serving.
