Method
Cocktail Base
- 1
Combine ingredients
Add bourbon, hazelnut liqueur, dry vermouth, cold-brew coffee, maple syrup, and orange bitters into a mixing glass.
- 2
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full strokes) until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 3
Strain
Using a julep or fine strainer, strain the chilled mixture into a rocks glass over one large ice cube.
Garnish & Finish
- 4
Prepare garnish
Run the orange twist over the rim of the glass to express oils, then drop it into the drink or place it on the rim.
- 5
Add nutty crunch
Sprinkle the finely chopped toasted hazelnuts over the top of the drink so a small amount floats on the surface; this adds aroma and a 'bit nutty' texture.
- 6
Serve immediately with a small spoon or straw for scooping any nuts. Enjoy responsibly.
