Brazilian Limeade Base

Garnish (optional)

Method

Brazilian Limeade Base

1

Prepare limes

Wash the limes thoroughly. Cut off the ends, then quarter each lime. Remove any large seeds if visible.

2

Pulse in blender

Place the quartered limes and 3 cups cold water in a blender. Pulse 6–8 short bursts (about 8–12 seconds total) — the goal is to extract juice and oils from the peel without pulverizing the rind into pulp.

3

Strain solids

Immediately pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or chinois into a pitcher. Press gently with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible, leaving pulp and most of the white pith behind. Discard solids.

4

Sweeten and chill

Stir in 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk and 2 teaspoons granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired (add up to 1 teaspoon more sugar or another 1/2 tablespoon condensed milk). Refrigerate briefly or use chilled limeade.

5

Add ice

When ready to build cocktails, add about 2 cups of crushed or cubed ice to the pitcher (or keep ice separate to fill individual glasses). Stir to chill the limeade base.

Cocktail Build

6

Mix cocktail

In a large shaker or separate pitcher, combine 4 fl oz clear rum, 2 fl oz coconut milk, and 4–6 fl oz (adjust to taste) of the prepared Brazilian limeade base. (This recipe yields roughly 2 servings; adjust ratios if making single servings: 2 fl oz rum, 1 fl oz coconut milk, 2–3 fl oz limeade per serving.)

7

Add bitters and ice

Add 4 dashes of lavender bitters to the shaker/pitcher. Fill the shaker with ice, then shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds (or stir briskly in a pitcher) until well-chilled and slightly frothy from the coconut milk and limeade.

8

Strain and serve

Strain into two chilled highball or Collins glasses filled with fresh ice. Top with a light flourish of extra limeade if desired to reach the glass rim. Taste and add another dash of lavender bitters per glass if you want a more pronounced floral note.

Garnish & Finish

9

Garnish each cocktail with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and optionally a small sprig of dried lavender laid across the top. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
