Prepare the Glass
Start by chilling an old fashioned glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add the demerara sugar and bitters. Muddle them together until the sugar dissolves.

Add the Bourbon
Pour in the Woodford Reserve bourbon and fill the mixing glass with ice. Stir gently for about 30 seconds.

Strain and Serve
Dump the ice water from the chilled old fashioned glass and strain the mixture into the glass over fresh ice cubes.

Garnish
Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink and drop it into the glass as garnish.
