Fried Egg Sandwich
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Texas Toast
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Add the Texas toast slices and toast until golden brown on both sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- 2
Fry the eggs
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter. Crack the eggs into the skillet and season with salt and black pepper. Cook until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired doneness (sunny-side up, over-easy, etc.).
- 3
Assemble the sandwich
On one slice of toasted Texas toast, spread 1 tablespoon of basil aioli. Place one slice of white American cheese on top, followed by the fried eggs. Top with the second slice of cheese and the other slice of Texas toast. Optionally, you can grill the assembled sandwich for an additional minute on each side to melt the cheese.
