Method
Smoothie base
Prepare citrus
If you don't have pre-squeezed juice, cut 1 large orange in half and squeeze to yield about 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh orange juice. Strain quickly if you prefer no pulp.
Assemble ingredients
Peel the banana and break it into chunks. Measure 1 cup Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons heavy cream, and 1 tablespoon honey. Place the banana, orange juice, yogurt, heavy cream, honey and 4 ice cubes into the blender.
Blend
Start the blender on low to break up the banana and ice, then blend on medium-high for 30–45 seconds until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no large ice or banana pieces. Taste for sweetness and texture.
Adjust
If the smoothie is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) more orange juice and pulse to combine. If it needs more sweetness, add additional honey to taste (about 1 teaspoon at a time).
Serve
Pour the smoothie into a 12–16 oz glass. Optionally grate 1 teaspoon orange zest over the top and garnish with a banana slice. Serve immediately while cold.
Optional garnish / tweak
For a brighter aroma, zest the orange before juicing and reserve 1 teaspoon of zest to sprinkle on top. For a thinner, more drinkable consistency, increase fresh orange juice up to 1/2 cup extra. For added sweetness, drizzle extra honey to taste over the finished drink.
