Prepare Proteins & Toppings

1

Cook bacon

Place bacon slices in a cold skillet, turn heat to medium, and cook until crisp (about 8–10 minutes), turning occasionally. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain and cool, then chop into bite-sized pieces.

2

Hard-boil eggs

Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water by 1 inch. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then cover, remove from heat, and let sit for 10–12 minutes. Transfer eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes, peel, and quarter.

3

Prepare deli meats and cheese

Stack ham and turkey slices, roll or fold if desired, and slice into 1/2-inch strips, then chop into bite-sized pieces (about 1/2 inch). Measure and set aside shredded cheddar cheese.

4

Slice vegetables

Thinly slice the red onion into half-moons. Core and seed the tomato if desired, then cut into wedges or 1/2-inch dice. Keep vegetables separate from dressed greens until assembly to avoid wilting.

Prepare Greens

5

Wash and dry all lettuce and salad greens thoroughly (use a salad spinner if available). Chop or tear into bite-sized pieces and place in a large serving bowl or on individual plates. Season the greens lightly with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper and toss gently to distribute.

Assemble Salad

6

Arrange the chopped ham and turkey in separate small piles (or evenly distributed) over the greens. Scatter the chopped bacon, shredded cheddar, quartered eggs, tomato pieces, and sliced red onion over the top. If using croutons, sprinkle them on now.

7

Drizzle ranch dressing over the assembled salad (about 2–3 tablespoons per serving, or proportionally to taste). Alternatively, serve the ranch on the side. Finish with the remaining 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper if desired.

8

Garnish with chopped parsley. Toss gently at the table or leave arranged for a composed chef salad presentation. Serve immediately.
