Method

Hashbrowns

  1. 1

    Prepare the hashbrowns

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the frozen hashbrowns and spread them out evenly in the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Cook the hashbrowns

Cook the hashbrowns for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Flip them over and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes on the other side. Once cooked, set aside.

Filling

  1. 3

    Sauté the vegetables

In the same skillet, if necessary, add a bit more oil and sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper over medium heat until they are soft and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Philly steak

Add the Philly steak to the skillet with the onions and peppers. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 5

    Scramble the eggs

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, salt, and black pepper. Pour the egg mixture over the cooked steak and vegetables. Stir gently until the eggs are fully cooked, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 6

    Add the cheese

Once the eggs are cooked, place the American cheese slices on top of the mixture in the skillet. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese, about 1-2 minutes.

Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the dish

To serve, place a portion of the Philly steak filling on top of half of the crispy hashbrowns. Fold the hashbrowns over to create a stuffed pocket.

  2. 8

    Prepare toast or biscuits

In a separate pan, melt butter over medium heat. Toast the bread slices or biscuits until golden brown.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the stuffed Philly steak hashbrowns with the buttery toast or biscuits on the side.
