Method

Biscuit

  1. 1

    Prepare the Biscuit Dough

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Milk

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  3. 3

    Shape and Bake

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Sausage and Eggs

  1. 4

    Cook the Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the applewood smoked sausage patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Eggs

In the same skillet, crack the eggs and cook them sunny-side up or however you prefer. Once cooked, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each egg to melt.

Hash Browns

  1. 6

    Cook the Hash Browns

In another skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shredded potatoes, season with salt and pepper, and flatten with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until crispy and golden brown, then flip and repeat on the other side.

Sausage Gravy

  1. 7

    Make the Gravy

In a saucepan over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Gradually add the milk while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and black pepper.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Dish

Split the baked biscuits in half and place one half on a plate. Stack the cooked sausage patty on top, followed by the melted egg and cheese. Top with crispy hash browns and drizzle with warm sausage gravy.
