Crepe Batter

Method

Preparation of Crepe Batter

  1. 1

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

Crack the eggs into the bowl with the flour and add the milk and vanilla extract. Whisk everything together until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

  3. 3

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, allow it to cool slightly, then add to the batter, whisking to combine.

  4. 4

    Rest the Batter

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and let the batter rest for at least 15 minutes at room temperature. This helps to create a more tender crepe.

Cooking the Crepe

  1. 5

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or crepe pan over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of oil or butter, ensuring it coats the surface.

  2. 6

    Pour the Batter

Once the pan is hot, pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the center of the pan. Immediately tilt and swirl the pan to spread the batter evenly across the surface.

  3. 7

    Cook the Crepe

Allow the crepe to cook for about 1-2 minutes or until the edges begin to lift and it is lightly golden underneath.

  4. 8

    Flip the Crepe

Using a spatula, gently lift the edge of the crepe and flip it over. Cook for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute on the other side.

  5. 9

    Serve

Transfer the crepe to a plate. You can fill it with your favorite toppings such as fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce.
