Strawberry Shake

Enjoy a creamy and refreshing regular-sized strawberry shake made with ripe strawberries and smooth vanilla ice cream.

CK Mondavi Merlot is medium-bodied with a hint of oak and flavors of cherries and plums. It is rich in the mouth and ends in a soft fruit filled finish.

Harvest 10 pounds of ripe Merlot grapes from the vineyard. Ensure that the grapes are free from rot and have a high sugar content for optimal fermentation.

Harvesting Grapes

Crush the harvested grapes to release the juice. This can be done using a wine press or manually with clean hands. Collect the juice in a fermentation vessel.

Add 1 cup of oak chips to the crushed grape juice. This will impart the desired oak flavor to the wine during fermentation.

Dissolve 2 cups of sugar in 1 gallon of water and add it to the fermentation vessel. This will help in the fermentation process and enhance the fruit flavors.

Sprinkle a packet of wine yeast over the mixture in the fermentation vessel. This yeast will ferment the sugars into alcohol and contribute to the flavor profile.

Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth and allow the mixture to ferment at room temperature for about 7-10 days. Stir the mixture daily to ensure even fermentation.

After fermentation is complete, press the mixture to separate the liquid wine from the solid grape skins. Use a wine press or strain through cheesecloth into a clean container.

Pressing the Wine

Transfer the pressed wine into a clean oak barrel or a glass carboy for aging. Allow it to age for at least 6 months to develop the rich flavors characteristic of Merlot.

After aging, bottle the wine in sterilized bottles. Seal the bottles with corks and store them in a cool, dark place.
