Hamburg Steak

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Hamburg Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Patties

Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly on both sides of the Angus beef patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Topping Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the onions are translucent and the vegetables are tender.

  2. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Place the cooked beef patties back into the skillet with the vegetables. Top each patty with shredded cheddar cheese. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

In a pot, add the peeled and diced potatoes, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  2. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, and salt. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Side Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and cucumber slices.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.

Final Assembly

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, serve the hamburg steak topped with sautéed vegetables and melted cheese. Pour warm beef gravy over the top. Add a generous scoop of mashed potatoes and a side of salad.
