Method

Preparation of Shrimp

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly with the spices.

Breading Setup

  1. 2

    Prepare Breading Stations

Set up a breading station by placing the flour in one shallow dish, whisking the eggs and milk together in another shallow dish, and placing the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.

Breading the Shrimp

  1. 3

    Coat the Shrimp

Dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and then coat it with breadcrumbs. Place the breaded shrimp on a plate and repeat until all shrimp are coated.

Frying the Shrimp

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Cooking the Sides

  1. 6

    Prepare the Green Beans

In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the green beans for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 7

    Heat the Mashed Potatoes

If using pre-made mashed potatoes, heat them according to package instructions or reheat them on the stove until warm.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, serve a portion of fried shrimp alongside a scoop of mashed potatoes and a serving of green beans. Enjoy your fried shrimp dinner!
