Method
Glass prep & garnish
Place a grapefruit wheel or wedge and a lime wheel or wedge on a small plate or directly prepare for garnish. Chill the prepared glass briefly if desired.
Mixing the cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice.
Add Casamigos Blanco tequila (2 oz) and the additional blanco tequila (0.5 oz) to the shaker.
Pour in fresh pink grapefruit juice (2 oz) and fresh lime juice (0.5 oz). Using fresh grapefruit and lime is recommended for brightness.
Add agave syrup (0.5 oz). If your agave is very thick, warm it slightly or mix with a little warm water to make it easier to measure and pour.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.
Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice (crushed or cubed). Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the glass to remove ice shards and any pulp, using a fine mesh strainer if available.
Top the drink with soda water (2 oz) to add effervescence. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to combine without flattening the soda.
Finish & serve
Garnish with the grapefruit wheel and a lime wedge on the rim, or float the grapefruit wheel on top of the drink.
Serve immediately with a straw if desired. Encourage the drinker to give it a gentle stir before the first sip to distribute the soda and citrus.
