Cocktail Base

Method

Prepare Glass

1

Choose glass and ice

Select a highball or Collins glass (12–16 oz). Fill the glass with 4 ice cubes or enough crushed ice to chill the drink while leaving room for mixing.

Build the Drink

2

Add bourbon cream

Measure and pour 2 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream liqueur over the ice in the prepared glass.

3

Optional vanilla boost

If using, add 1 tsp vanilla extract to the glass. Stir gently once to combine with the bourbon cream; this enhances vanilla/cream notes but is optional.

4

Top with root beer

Carefully pour 6 oz chilled root beer down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to retain carbonation. Pour slowly to avoid excessive foaming. The ratio yields a smooth, cream-forward drink with a fizzy finish; adjust root beer up to 8 oz if you prefer a lighter cream presence.

5

Gentle integration

Use a long bar spoon to gently lift and fold the top layer twice—enough to integrate the bourbon cream and root beer without flattening the carbonation.

Garnish & Serve

6

Garnish

Finish with a light pinch of freshly grated nutmeg or a dusting of ground cinnamon on top of the foam. Add a maraschino or stemmed cherry on a pick and rest it on the rim or drop into the drink.

7

Serve

Serve immediately while carbonated. Provide a straw or stirrer so the drinker can adjust cream/root beer balance as they sip.
