Chill glass
Place a rocks glass (or coupe) in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water to chill while you build the cocktail.
Mix
Fill a mixing glass or shaker with large ice cubes. Pour in 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon and 1 oz sweet vermouth. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Prepare glass and garnish
Discard the chilling ice or water from your serving glass. Strain the mixed cocktail into the chilled rocks glass over one large ice cube (or serve neat in a chilled coupe). Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the surface and giving it a quick twist, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass.
Serve immediately. Optionally, garnish with a Luxardo cherry or additional orange twist if desired.
