Cocktail Base

Citrus

Method

Prep & Muddle

1

Prepare citrus and fruit

Halve the lemon and lime. Reserve the wheel for garnish by cutting a 1/8" slice from one half; set aside. From the remaining halves, remove any seeds.

2

In a sturdy mixing glass or shaker, add the fresh raspberries (6 each), the juice from the halved lemon and lime, and the optional 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter cocktail.

3

Using a muddler, gently press and twist the raspberries and citrus juice together 6–8 times until the raspberries are broken down and release bright color and flavor. Avoid over-muddling the citrus peel to prevent bitterness.

Mixing

4

Add 2 oz raspberry vodka and 1.5 oz margarita mix to the muddled fruit and citrus in the shaker.

5

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and secure the lid.

6

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients, then strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice. For a slightly pulpy texture, double-strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove most seeds and pulp, or single strain to keep more fruit.

Finish & Serve

7

Top the strained cocktail with about 2 oz soda water to lighten and add effervescence. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to incorporate.

8

Garnish with the reserved lemon or lime wheel and 2 fresh raspberries on a pick or floated on top.

9

Serve immediately with a straw if desired.
