Measure and pour
Using a jigger, measure 2 oz of Booker's Bourbon and pour it into a chilled old-fashioned glass. If you prefer a slightly tamer, more aromatic pour (Booker’s is cask strength), measure and add 0.25 oz (about 7–8 ml) of filtered water to the glass to lightly open the spirit. Do not over-dilute—this is optional and tastes-dependent.
Garnish
Add ice
Place a single large ice cube (or 2 medium) into the glass. The large cube will chill without diluting quickly, preserving the bold flavors of the cask-strength bourbon.
Express orange oils (optional)
If using an orange peel, hold it skin-side down over the drink and give a quick, firm twist to express the oils across the surface. Optionally, rub the peel's rim along the glass and drop the peel into the drink as garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the layered flavors — vanilla, char, oak, dark fruit — typical of Booker's. Offer additional water on the side if guests want to further adjust proof to taste.
