Cocktail

Method

Prepare Glass

1

Chill a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes, or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Pour the 1 tablespoon of sugar onto a small shallow plate. Run the lemon wedge around the rim of the chilled glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into the sugar. Twist the glass to ensure an even sugar coat. Set the glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

3

Muddle

In a cocktail shaker, add 6 fresh raspberries and the 0.5 oz simple syrup. Use a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to gently muddle the raspberries until they are broken down but not completely pulverized—just enough to release color and juices.

4

Add Spirits and Citrus

Add 2 oz Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, 1 oz Empress 1908 Elderflower & Rose Gin, and 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice to the shaker with the muddled raspberries.

5

Dry Shake (optional)

For a silkier texture and more raspberry integration, perform a dry shake (shake without ice) vigorously for 8–10 seconds. This helps emulsify the fruit with the spirits and citrus.

6

Shake with Ice

Add about 6 ice cubes to the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and the exterior is frosty.

7

Double Strain

Double strain the cocktail into the sugar-rimmed chilled glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove raspberry seeds and ice shards, producing a smooth, clear drink with a pale pink hue.

Garnish & Serve

8

Skewer one fresh raspberry on a short pick and rest it on the rim or float it in the cocktail. Alternatively, twist a thin strip of lemon peel expressing oils over the cocktail and drop it in for extra aroma.

9

Serve immediately while cold.
