Cocktail
Method
Prepare Glass & Garnish
Prepare basil
Gently clap 2 basil leaves between your palms once to release aromatics (do not bruise heavily). Reserve 2 additional whole leaves for garnish.
Build the Cocktail
Pour 2 oz Roku gin over the ice.
Lightly bruise the remaining 2 basil leaves by gently pressing them between thumb and forefinger and drop them into the glass on top of the ice. This will infuse subtle basil aroma without overpowering the gin.
Give the drink one gentle stir (2–3 revolutions) with a bar spoon to integrate gin and tonic while keeping fizz.
Garnish & Serve
Place the dehydrated grapefruit wheel on the rim or float it on the surface of the drink. If you used the optional grapefruit express oil, align the peel direction so the expressed oils are over the drink.
Finish by tucking the 2 reserved whole basil leaves gently alongside the grapefruit wheel for visual contrast and aroma.
Serve immediately with a short straw or coaster. Advise the drinker to inhale basil aroma before sipping to appreciate the herbaceous notes.
