Gift Card Materials
Method
Assemble Gift Card Package
Prepare workspace
Clear a flat clean surface and gather all materials: folded card, envelope, printed insert, gift card, double-sided tape, scissors, ruler, pencil, decorative paper, sticker, pen, and ribbon.
Measure and trim decorative paper (optional)
If using decorative paper or cardstock, measure the front panel of the folded card with the ruler. Lightly mark the paper so it is about 1/8 inch smaller on all sides than the front panel. Cut the decorative paper to size with scissors.
Attach decorative paper
Apply a thin strip of double-sided tape along the back edges of the decorative paper. Align it carefully on the front of the folded card and press firmly to adhere. Smooth out any bubbles or misalignment.
Prepare printed gift card insert
If you have a printed insert that holds the gift card, fold it as indicated (usually in half or with a tuck). Use the ruler to make a crisp fold. If the insert needs a slit to hold the card, mark and cut a narrow 1/8 inch slit with scissors where the card will slide in.
Attach insert inside card
Open the folded card. Position the insert on the inside right panel (standard) so the gift card will be visible when opened. Apply small pieces of double-sided tape to the back edges of the insert and press it in place, ensuring it is centered and straight.
Place gift card
Slide or tuck the gift card into the slit or pocket of the insert. Confirm the card is secure but can be removed without tearing. If necessary, add a small piece of removable tape across the bottom edge of the card to hold it in place.
Write your message
On the inside left panel or on the insert, write a personal message using the pen. Sign and date if desired. Keep ink dry before closing the card.
Close and seal
Close the card carefully so the insert and gift card remain in place. Place the card inside the envelope. If using a sticker or seal, affix it to the envelope flap to keep it closed.
Add ribbon or finishing touches (optional)
If you want a ribbon, wrap it around the closed envelope and tie a simple bow. Trim excess ribbon to about 12 inches total used length. Add any additional decorative stickers or tags as desired.
Final check
Confirm the gift card and message are correct, the card fits snugly in the envelope, and all decorations are secure. Place the finished gift card in a gift bag or present it as planned.
