Preparation

1

Prepare the Tomatillo

Remove the husks from the tomatillos, rinse them under cold water, and chop them into quarters. Set aside.

2

Roast the Masa

In a skillet over medium heat, toast the masa until it is golden brown, stirring frequently (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside.

3

Prepare the Chilies

If using fresh chilies, slice them open and remove the seeds. Chop finely based on your heat preference.

Mixing the Drink

4

Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila blanco, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, chopped tomatillos, roasted masa, and chopped chilies.

5

Shake Well

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

6

Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass or coupe, making sure to leave any solids behind.

Garnishing

7

Add Garnish

Garnish the drink with a lime wedge on the rim and sprinkle a pinch of chili powder on top for an extra kick.
