Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill and prepare

If using a copper mug, place it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes beforehand for extra chill. Fill the chilled mug or a highball glass with cubed ice to the top.

  2. 2

    Measure and add spirits

Using a jigger, pour 2 oz Ketel One vodka over the ice.

  3. 3

    Add citrus

Add 0.5 oz (about 1/2 oz) fresh lime juice. If you prefer slightly tarter, increase to 3/4 oz.

  4. 4

    Top with ginger beer

Slowly pour 4 oz chilled ginger beer into the mug or glass to preserve carbonation. Use a bar spoon to gently stir once or twice to combine—do not over-stir.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally add a small piece of candied or fresh ginger on a pick. Serve immediately with a straw (optional).

Tools

  1. 6

Use the jigger to measure spirits and the juicer to extract fresh lime juice. The bar spoon is for gentle stirring. Return the copper mug to the freezer between uses if making multiple cocktails to keep the drink extra cold.
