Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place your copper mule mug or highball glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare ingredients. Discard ice water before building the drink.
- 2
Combine base ingredients
In the chilled mug or a mixing glass, add 2 oz Hennessy V.S, 1.5 oz passion fruit nectar, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (add only if you prefer slightly sweeter).
- 3
If using fresh passion fruit
If you have a fresh passion fruit half instead of nectar, scoop seeds and pulp from half a passion fruit into the mixing glass and lightly muddle to release juices. Then add Hennessy and lime juice. Omit the nectar in that case.
- 4
Add ice and top
Fill the mug with crushed ice (about 1 cup). Pour the combined spirit and fruit mixture over the ice, then top gently with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Stir gently 2–3 times with a bar spoon to combine without losing carbonation.
Garnish & Serve
- 5
Garnish the drink with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim, a sprig of fresh mint tucked into the ice, and if available, spoon a few passion fruit seeds or place the half passion fruit (cut side up) on top for visual appeal.
- 6
Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy. Optionally provide a small stirring spoon so the guest can remix if the ginger beer settles.
Tools
- 7
Use a jigger to measure spirits and juices for consistency. Use a bar spoon to gently combine the ginger beer with the spirit-fruit mix. If muddling fresh passion fruit, use a muddler or the back of a spoon to press pulp and seeds against the glass gently.
