Soda Base

Optional Add-ins & Garnish

Method

Make the Soda

1

Prepare glass

Select a tall glass (12–16 oz capacity). If desired, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before serving to keep the drink colder longer.

2

Add ice

Place ice cubes into the glass until it's about two-thirds full (approximately 1 cup). Adjust amount of ice to preference.

3

Measure syrup

Pour 2 oz of cola syrup or concentrate into the glass. If using a bottled cola instead of syrup, reduce syrup to 0 oz and substitute 10 oz of cola beverage (adjust total volume below accordingly).

4

Add carbonated water

Slowly pour 8 oz of chilled carbonated water down the side of the glass over the back of a spoon to preserve fizz and minimize foam. Pour gently to avoid excessive foaming.

5

Mix gently

Use a long spoon or stirrer to gently combine syrup and carbonated water with 3–4 slow strokes. Avoid vigorous stirring to retain carbonation.

6

Taste and adjust

Taste the soda. If you prefer sweeter/more cola-forward, add up to 0.5 oz more syrup and stir gently. If too sweet, add up to 1–2 oz more chilled carbonated water.

Garnish & Serve

7

Squeeze the lemon wedge lightly over the surface and drop it into the glass if you like a bright citrus note. Top with a maraschino cherry on a toothpick or dropped into the glass for classic presentation.

8

Insert a straw if desired and serve immediately alongside your pizza. Keep any leftover syrup refrigerated and store carbonated water sealed.
