Method
Special Offer Components
Apply discounts
Set the Open Bowling pricing to 50% off for the entire day in the POS system. Ensure the Game Zone game credits or card-top ups are configured to apply a 50% discount per play or per credit bundle. Where Laser Tag is available, configure sessions to show 50% off the normal per-person session price.
Define validity and location
Confirm and record the specific date(s) the Half Off Day applies. Clearly mark which locations participate and ensure the offer is only active at those locations in the POS and online booking systems.
Guest eligibility
Determine and record any guest eligibility rules (e.g., walk-ins and reservations both eligible, maximum lanes or sessions per guest if applicable). Communicate limits to staff and include them in signage and online terms.
Operational Steps (for staff)
Configure POS and booking
Before the day begins, activate the discount button or discount code in the POS and online booking system. Test a sample transaction for Open Bowling, a Game Zone play purchase, and a Laser Tag booking (if available) to confirm the 50% discount applies correctly and taxes/fees are calculated as intended.
Prepare signage and marketing
Place promotional signage at entrances, front desk, and inside the Game Zone and Laser Tag queue areas. Update the website, social media, and any digital signage with the Half Off Day details, including date(s), participating locations, and any usage limits or exclusions.
Staff briefing
Hold a short pre-shift meeting to review the offer mechanics: how to apply discounts, explain eligibility rules, handle questions about availability, and manage capacity controls. Provide staff with a printed quick-reference sheet showing examples of transactions and answers to FAQs.
Manage capacity and inventory
Monitor lane and arena availability throughout the day. If capacity approaches limits, follow the pre-agreed policy (waitlist, reservations only, restrict per-guest bookings) to ensure a smooth flow and fair distribution of the discounted play time.
Customer communication and support
When customers arrive, clearly explain the offer and any limits. For online or phone customers, confirm the discount on booking confirmation. If a discount does not apply correctly, staff should follow the testing procedure to correct the transaction or issue an on-the-spot adjustment/refund.
Post-event reconciliation
After the Half Off Day ends, deactivate the special pricing in the POS and booking systems. Reconcile discounted transactions, run a report of redemptions (Open Bowling lanes booked, Game Zone credits sold, Laser Tag sessions), and collect staff feedback on operations and customer experience for future improvements.
